Through Congressional legislation, advocacy, fact-finding missions, intensive research, and hard-hitting analyses, the Albanian American Civic League has been dedicated for more than twenty five years to resolving the Albanian national cause and bringing lasting peace and stability to Southeast Europe. In collaboration with foreign policy leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate and a network of committed volunteers around the world, the Civic League works to bring genuine independence to Kosova, equal rights to Albanians in Macedonia, Montenegro, the Presheva Valley, and Chameria, and democracy and economic freedom to Albania. On the Occasion of the 11th Anniversary of Kosova's Independence
Dear Friends and Supporters,
As we approach the 11th anniversary of the independence of Kosova, we thought it would be worthwhile to remind the Albanian people of the work that the Albanian American Civic League did to free Kosova from the control of Serbia and its brutal communist leader, Slobodan Milosevic.
Please click on the button below to view a playlist of hand-selected videos that we thought best represented the work that the AACL did to end the suffering of the Albanian people in Kosova during the brutal Serbian summer offensive in 1998 and to bring about the liberation of Kosova by the American-led NATO forces in 1999, the indictment of war criminal Slobodan Milosevic in 2000, and the trial of Milosevic in The Hague for genocide and crimes against humanity in 2001.
The hard work of the AACL, shown in the videos attached, prepared the way for the recognition of the Independence of Kosova by President George W. Bush on February 17, 2008. While we take this opportunity to celebrate the freedom of the Albanian people of Kosova today, our work is not yet finished to give Kosova equal sovereign status with its European neighbors.
