Albanians and Jews: An Historic Milestone in Israel

AACL trip to Israel for the public recognition at Yad Vashem of the unique role that Albanians played in saving every Jew who either lived in Albania or sought asylum there during the Holocaust.  It was marked by the opening of a traveling exhibition by fine art photographer Norman Gershman, entitled:  “Besa:  A Code of Honor/Muslim Albanians Who Rescued Jews during the Holocaust.”  Attached is Shirley’s article, “Albanians and Jews:  An Historic Milestone in Israel”, about this important event.  It includes a timeline about the activities of the Albanian American Civic League and Foundation on behalf of Albanian-Jewish relations since 1990.
